JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Afghan Special Forces in eastern Nangarhar province raided the home of Talibaninfo-icon commander who had joined peace process, and detained six suspects, officials said Tuesday.

Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that Special Forces launched operation in Hazara Naw area of Mohmand Dara district last night.

The operation was conducted on a house where six people equipped with weapons were arrested, he said, adding that the detainees were under investigations.

However, a resident of the district Saifur Rahman said the operation was launched on his house. He said that three of his family members including children were injured in the raid while security forces took three others with them.

He said he was the designated district chief for Mohmand Dari district in the past but joined peace process along with five supporters about one and a half year ago.

“The peace committee has given me card and provided me with monthly salary and protection of my family, but the government has violated the agreement,” he said, claiming that security forces found nothing in his house.

Rahman added that he was currently serving as schoolteacher in the capital Kabulinfo-icon.

He asked the government not to harass people who joined peace process because rebels would stop shunning violence.
