Foreign forces come under attack in Kandahar

Foreign forces come under attack in Kandahar

Sep 17, 2015 - 12:01

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): One civilian has been wound in a suicide attack on a convoy of foreign forces in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.

The attack took place late on Wednesday on the Kandahar-Spin Boldak road, police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the foreign troops’ convoy was on its way to the airport when an explosive-rigged motorcycle parked at the roadside went off with a bang.

Foreign forces escaped unhurt in the attack, but a driver suffered injuries in the blast. Durrani said the injured was taken to a military hospital.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon claimed responsibility for the bombing. The group’s spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the explosion was carried out by Abu Abdullah Kandahari.

He added one vehicle in the convoy was destroyed and the soldier on board were killed. The NATOinfo-icon Resolute Support (RS) mission has not yet commented on the incident.
