PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Dozens of families have been displaced from the Baghlan-i-Markazi district due to the ongoing clashes between security personnel and Talibaninfo-icon insurgents in northern Baghlan province.

Kok Chinar village and some parts of Mangalha village were cleared from the presence of Taliban during the clearing operations by security personnel in the Maghlan-i-Markazi district, the newly appointed provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Ewaz Naziri told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Three Taliban fighters were killed and four others wounded in the gun battles, he said adding security personnel suffered no casualties in the firefights.

However, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said they have killed 15 Afghan soldiers and injured 17 others during the clashes during which Taliban captured Kokchinar, Qaisarkhel, Jandakhel, Arab, Mangalha, Nawabad, Khodaidadkhel, Jokna areas from the security personnel.

Mohammad Gulab, a resident of Mangalha village said the Afghan local police vacate the areas as Taliban took control of the village.

The gun battles obliged 25 families of his village including him to leave the village and displace to new city of the district where dozens of other families from other villages had already been displaced.

The government was responsible to keep the security of the citizens, he said.

Meanwhile, Naziri said that they inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban last night as a result of another clash in the Dand-i-Ghori district. But Mujahid claimed that they repulsed the attacks of security personnel by causing casualties on them.
