KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Indian ambassador to Afghanistaninfo-icon Manpreet Vohra said on Sunday his country would continue supporting Afghanistan in its pursuit for economic development.

The envoy was addressing the Mesharano Jirgainfo-icon or upper house of parliament where he was presented a letter of appreciation.

Vohra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid two visits to Afghanistan in five months, first to inaugurate the parliament building and again to inaugurate the Afghanistan-India Friendship Dam.

“The completion of these two major projects shows India wants close relations with Afghan brothers and sisters.”

The diplomat said New Delhi was with Kabul in meeting all challenges from peace to security and hostile polices of the enemy.

Senate Chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar said Afghanistan would never forget India’s economic and development support. He asked the Indian government to construct another hydro-power project on Kunar River the survey of which had been completed.

He asked the neighboring countries to learn from India and help Afghanistan in its rehabilitation.
