Political objectives can’t be achieved through war: ACPS

Political objectives can’t be achieved through war: ACPS

Oct 14, 2016 - 17:21

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghanistaninfo-icon Council for Peace Salvation (ACPS) on Friday expressed deep concern over increasing incidents of violence in the country, asking the warring parties to halt fighting and agree to a ceasefire.

Gul Rahman Qazi, head of the ACPS, told reporters here it was about time that everyone recongnised that fighting was not the way to achieve political objectives. He said the only way forward was inter-Afghan talks involving impartial individuals.

Qazi said ACPS, which held a meeting with representatives of the Talibaninfo-icon in Qatar, would hold talks with religious scholars, tribal elders and influential people soon to push for peace and stability.

Fazal Hadi Wazin, ACPS spokesman, claimed the ongoing fighting in the country was being managed by foreigners and no local elements were involved.

They demanded the parties facilitate access and humanitarian help to the people trapped in areas of fighting. ACPS also demanded an end to the fighting, which it saw as the main reason for the continued stay of foreign troops in the country.
