CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Security forces have beaten back the Talibaninfo-icon attack on Shinwari district centre in central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.

Akogul, the town’s administrative chief said: “Militants stormed the district centre at around 11:00pm from different direction and fired 10-30 rockets in which the district building was partially damaged.”

He added the clash lasted until 1:00am afterwards the assailants were pushed back. The Afghan forces suffered no casualties and there was no information about the attackers’ losses.

Haroon Mubarez, commander for the public order police, claimed the insurgent suffered losses in the overnight fire fight. He, however, did not provide the exact figures.

The Taliban have not commented over the last night clash so far.
