KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The suicide bomber, who blew himself up at the Bagram Airbase in central Parwan province at the weekend, had joined the reconciliation process in 2008, an official said on Tuesday.

He had been working at the largest US military base in Afghanistaninfo-icon for the past five years, said the Bagram district’s administrative chief, Abdul Shakoor Qudusi,

He identified the bomber as Qari Naib, 23, who hailed from the Laghmani village of the district. Naib’sbrother and father have been arrested by police.

Wahid Sediqui, the governor’s spokesman, endorsed the district chief view and said Naib had received vocational training on metalwork provided by South Korea.

Two US soldiers and as many contractors were killed and 16 others wounded in Saturday’s suicide attack on the Bagram Airfield.

The Pentagon said in a statement on Sunday among the dead were two US civilians. A Polish soldier also sustained slight injuries in the explosion.
