Taliban chop off alleged thief’s hand & foot in Herat

Mar 14, 2017 - 14:23

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon have cut off an alleged thief’s hand and foot in compliance with a kangaroo court verdict in the Oba district of western Herat province, local officials said on Tuesday.

Abdul Ahad Walizada, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the harrowing incident to Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the man was currently in stable condition.

Afghan forces have launched a search for the perpetrators of the cruel act, which took place in a mountainous area, some 50 kilometers from the Oba district center, he added.

“Accused of robbery, the man’s right hand and left foot were chopped off, though there was no evidence to prove the charge. He was imprisoned for a month before being convicted by a Taliban court,” Walizada said.

About a week ago, the Taliban stoned a woman to death on adultery charges in northeastern Badakhshan province.
