AIBAK (Pajhwok): One man was killed and another wounded in a traffic accident in northern Samangan province on Saturday morning, an eyewitness and a traffic official said.

Faizullah, giving an eyewitness account, told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident took place at 6:00 am when a tanker struck a motorcycle.

He said one of the motorcyclists -- a 45 year-old man -- was killed and another -- 65 years old -- injured. The victims belonged to Hazrat Sultan district, he added.

Col. Abdul Raziq, traffic department head, linked the accident to careless driving. The driver of the tanker had been arrested and the injured taken to hospital, he said.
