May 06, 2017 - 16:38

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon captured the Kunduz-Khanabad highway after overrunning the Qala-i-Zal district of northern Kunduz province, officials said on Saturday.

Rabbani Rabbani, a provincial council member, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban attacked highway on Friday morning and took control of it.

He said the Kunduz-Takhar highway had also been blocked by the Taliban who captured security posts and inflicted casualties on security forces.

Rabbani demanded the government take a serious action for recapturing areas lost to the rebels as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Mahmmud Danish, the governor’s spokesman, said militants stormed the Kunduz-Takhar highway on Friday morning but they were pushed back and suffered heavy casualties.
