KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Some senators accused the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) of committing ‘national treason’ by not attending the upper house’s Sunday’s session.

The Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon members said IARCSC head Nader Naderi was answerable to lawmaker and he must attend the next session.

Naderi was summoned by the house along with Hamayun Muhtat, head of the Electronic Identity Card Authority (EICA), to brief senators about a written exam to hire 6,500 new employees at the organization.

However, Naderi did not appear before the upper house on Sunday. Mohammad Amin Paya, the acting head of Population Registration Department (PRD), Hashmatullah, head of the Capacity Building for Results (CBR) process and Fayazuddin Gheyasi, human rights head of PRD attended the session.

While announcing the agenda, a number of senators said the three officials should not be allowed to enter the parliament in the absence of Naderi.

Zalmai Zabuli, a Meshrano Jirga member, said: “Naderi is a traitor, he is behind all the problems, he must come and answer our questions.”

He criticized the president and said: “I don’t know if we are in such a short supply of capable people when Naderi is leading many duties at the same time.”

His colleague, Abdul Latif Zwandai, said: “I don’t expect Naderi will turn up when he is accused of national treason.”

Senator Lailuma Ahmadi said not appearing before the Senate by Naderi was questionable and said, “Naderi must come and respond to senators.”

Some other members of the Meshrano Jirga also held similar. They finally rejected the three officials from PRD and CBR with a majority of vote and decided that Nader Naderi must attend the house’s next session on Tuesday.
