Jun 14, 2017 - 16:02

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A group of seven Daesh -- or so called Islamic State (IS) -- militants has been captured by Talibaninfo-icon in the Balcheragh district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Wednesday.

A security official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Daesh fighters -- sneaking from Ghorinfo-icon province into Faryab on motorcycles -- were seized by Taliban in Tash Qala area late on Tuesday.

However, an upraising commander, Dadullah Aka Dadai, said five Daesh militants had been arrested by Taliban commander Ghazanfar. He added a large number of Daesh members from Qosh Tepa and Darzab districts had gathered in parts of Balcheragh to launch attacks on Taliban.

The Taliban have also been dispatched to parts of the district and there is a possibility of a clash between the two rebel groups, according to the source.

A local Taliban commander, who requested anonymity, confirmed a group of Daesh militants had been captured. However, Daesh has not yet commented on the capture of its fighters.
