Death toll from Kabul mosque attack soars to 28

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said the death toll from Friday’s group suicide attack on a Shiite mosqueinfo-icon in Kabul has reached 28, with another 50 wounded.

A group of suicide bombers stormed the Imaminfo-icon Zaman Mosque in Qala-i-Najara area in the limits of 11th police district on Friday afternoon, triggering a clash with security forces that lasted four hours.

A statement from the MoI said 28 people, including three womeninfo-icon and four policemen were killed and 50 others including nine policemen were wounded in the attack.

“Attacking sacred places and worshippers is against all Islamic and humanitarian values and such acts of militants show they are defeated on the battle ground”, the MoI statement said.

It added police would spare no effort in capturing the perpetrators of the attack and awarding them punishment.
