Logar airstrike: Ghani orders injured sent abroad for treatment

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday met relatives and family members of those killed and injured in a recent airstrike in central Logar province and ordered sending critically injured abroad for treatment if needed.

The president offered his condolences to the bereaved families and shared the grief with them, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

Eleven civilians have been killed and 16 others injured in the foreign forces airstrike in Logar last week.

Governor Halim Fidai provided details about the assistance and efforts reaching out to the victims as directed by the president after the tragic incident. He said the assistance included the burial of dead and immediate treatment of those injured.

Mualvi Mohammad Sardar Zadran, head of the Ulemainfo-icon and Mujahidin Council, thanked the president for sharing the grief of the tragedy and said: “Your special attention to the affected families has decreased our grief.”

He said mujahidin, ulema, youth and the people of Logar fully backed the integrity of the country and stood behind the government.

The president said: “My priority is the establishment of peace and stability in the country and with the help of Allah we will get it.” He termed the unity of the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon as vital for peace and stability in the country.
