Pakistani forces fire nearly 100 rockets into Nangarhar

Oct 04, 2017 - 14:21

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Pakistani military have fired around 100 rockets into different areas of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Wednesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Pakistani forces once again targeted Achin and Nazian district of Nangarhar from across the Durand Lineinfo-icon.

Thirty-seven cannonballs landed in Abdulkhel and Bandar areas of Achin district late on Tuesday, he said, adding the Pakistani forces also fired eight cannonballs and 44 mortar shells into Nakhtar Naw, Abdala Khula and Kasona areas of Nazyan district.

He added no one was hurt in the cross-border shelling. Pakistani forces recently fired rockets into some parts of Nangarhar province, causing civilian casualties.

Provincial Council Chairman Ahmad Ali Hazrat told a press conference on Monday the government should respond to Pakistani shelling in a tit-for-tat response.

Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, said the issue had been taken up with a delegation led by the Pakistaninfo-icon army chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa in Kabulinfo-icon.
