Officials join Ghani in condemning Kabul attack

Officials join Ghani in condemning Kabul attack

Nov 16, 2017 - 19:41

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah and other government high ups condemned Thursday’s suicide attack in Kabul.

At least nine people were killed and as many others wounded when a suicide bomber blew his explosives in front of a wedding hall in Lab-i-Jar area, in the limits of 4th police district this afternoon.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said a number of Afghans, including policemen, were killed in a ‘barbaric terrorist’ attack from the enemies of the Afghans.

President Ghani condemned the attack and said targeting civil gatherings, mosques and public places was against Islamic and humanitarian teachings.

He said the Afghan government had always supported civil movements and insisted such attacks could not deter people’s commitment to their civil freedom and other democratic values.

CEO Abdullah Abdullah also condemned the attack. “We condemn this barbaric attack in strongest terms, we condole with the victims’ families and want Jannatul Ferdaus for the departed souls,” he said in a statement.

Terrorists with their supporters would not be able to achieve their ominous goals with such coward attacks, he said.

National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar and a number other officials also condemned the attack, claimed by Daesh or so called Islamic State (IS).
