KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Civil societyinfo-icon activists on Monday held a protest gathering in Kabul to condemn rocket shelling from Pakistaninfo-icon into eastern Kunar province, asking the government to resolve the issue through diplomatic channels.

As per reports, Pakistani forces have fired 1,500 rockets into bordering districts of the eastern province from across the Durand Lineinfo-icon over the past seven days, resulting in casualties to civilians and forcing hundreds of people to flee.

The civil society activists numbering around one hundred gathered in the courtyard of Kabul city’s Eidgah Mosqueinfo-icon, chanting slogans against Pakistan: “Stop your evil acts, Oh Pakistan” “Down with Pakistan” “Pakistan is symbol of horror on the globe.”

Nasir Ahmad Akhtarzai, a civil society organization head, on behalf of other participants, said Pakistan’s terrorism-oriented system was a huge and brazen violation of human rights on global level.

He asked the unity government to change its foreign policy towards Pakistan and take steps towards preventing aggression of the country.

Hamida Wardak, Justice Process civil society group head and speaker at the gathering, dubbed the signing of the security pact with US as flawed. “Based on the agreement, the US is to help Afghanistaninfo-icon in fields of security and economy; but instead America isn’t abiding by any of the agreement’s articles.”

She went to say that the BSA should be revisited because it had so far no positive impact on the country’s situation.

Meanwhile, political expert Amin Zazai said: “Pakistan dared to attack Afghanistan because America provided it the opportunity.”

He said if the US was against the Pakistani aggression why it had been tight-lipped on the issue.

He asked the unity government leaders to salvage Afghanistan from foreign aggression.

At the end, a resolution letter was read out regarding the Pakistani shelling on the Afghan soil. “Pakistan should pay respect to all international rules and avoid firing shells. And the Afghan government should resolve the problem through diplomatic channels.”

The resolution letter also asked the international community and the US to act in compliance with the strategic security pact and take steps with regard to the Pakistani shelling.
