Acid attack on sisters: 5 Herat policemen dismissed

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Five police officers have been dismissed after unknown individuals sprinkled acid on the faces of two sisters in the capital of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Abdul Ahad Walizada told Pajhwok Afghan News the removal of top police officials of fourth police district of Herat City happened after the orders of Presidential Palace to Interior Ministry and to the provincial police headquarters.

The dismissal of top official occurred after committing negligence in their duty.

Police chief, his deputy, crime branch chief, counter-terrorism chief and head of control had been dismissed from their positions over negligence in performing their responsibilities.

Unknown individuals sprayed acid on the faces of two sisters in the capital of western Herat province on Wednesday.

The victims were admitted to the Burns Ward of the Herat Hospital.

Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, an official in-charge at the Herat Zonal Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that early in the morning the two sisters were on their way to attend a course when they were attacked by unidentified individuals in Girdai Parak area of Herat city.
