TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A father has killed his daughter for unknown reason in the capital of central Uruzgan province, where a clash left eight rebels dead, officials said Saturday.

Uruzgan police chief Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Sidiqi told Pajhwok Afghan News the murder took place on Friday night in the 4th municipal district of Tirinkot city, the provincial capital.

He said the girl had been shot dead by his father and a task team had reached the area for investigation.

An official at the Uruzgan Civil Hospital told Pajhwok the girl was delivered to the hospital on Friday night in wounded condition, but later she succumbed to her injuries. He confirmed the girl was killed by her father using a short-gun.

Meanwhile, a clash occurred between government forces and rebels in Tirinkot city on Friday night.

Police chief Sidiqi said at least eight Talibaninfo-icon insurgents were killed and another seven wounded in the firefight and the security personnel escaped unhurt.
