Casualties as police, Taliban clash in Badghis

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Two policemen and as many Talibaninfo-icon gunmen were killed and seven security personnel were wounded during separate clashes in northwestern Badghis province, an official said Monday.

The militants attacked a security check-post in Andarai area of Maqur district late on Sunday night, killing two policemen and injuring a third, Badghis police chief Mohammad Ismail told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said two attackers were also killed and a third was wounded when the police retaliated. The insurgents took away one RPG rocket, a machinegun and some heavy and light weapons from the post, the police chief said.

In Bala Murghab district, five border police were wounded as militants attacked them in Morichaq area. There has been so far no word from insurgents in this regard.
