Taliban attack on Baghlan’s Dushi district beaten back

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon coordinated attack on the Dushi district of northern Baghlan province has been repulsed in which militants suffered huge casualties, an official said on Thursday.

Maj. Gen. Shaoor Gul Khan, deputy defence minister and commander of security forces in current Baghlan battle, said the Taliban on Wednesday evening attacked Dushi district from different sides.

He said eight Taliban were killed and 15 others injured in the overnight clash.

As a result of Wednesday night attack the Taliban wanted to block the Kabulinfo-icon-Mazar-i-Sharif highway and capture Dushi district, but security forces responded in befitting manner and repulsed their attack, he added.

Mohammad Ali, a local elder, said four civilians, including a woman and two girls, have been killed and six others injured in the firefight.
